Sad news
How sad to hear of Rob Turner's passing away.
I have fond memories of Rob as a great TD, a sporting opponent and a good friend over many years when I was in Yorkshire.
My thoughts are with Mary, his family and with Sheffield Bridge Club members.

What shocking news. He was my instructor on the TD course and we often exchanged good words when I saw him at events. RIP, Rob.
I first met Rob about 40 years ago at Sheffield University BC (before we moved on to Sheffield BC) and we had been great friends ever since with common interest not just in bridge but in TD-ing, and we ran many events together. I estimate that he was about the 10th-longest-serving EBU TD when he recently retired from "the Panel" due to failing health. Rob just managed to reach his 70th birthday a few weeks ago. He played his last ever bridge hand two weeks ago this evening making 4 !s X against me to win a local league match for his team. We have lost a really nice chap.
