Director cancels last round due to lack of time.
We've all been there.
Under 15B3, since all contestants have been deprived of the opportunity to earn a good score, should they not all be awarded Av+? (Or possibly Av if everyone was just slow).
Does it say somewhere in the laws that the director can change the movement once the event has started?
For those whose first reaction is "it doesn't matter", it does if there's a half table, or any event where boards are not all played the same number if times.

I think 81B1 and 81C1 give the director the power to change the movement. If that happens, it should be scored based on the revised movement, so no artificial scores would be necessary.
I think the most common situation where this makes a significant difference is if there's a sit-out (the pair who would be sitting out on the skipped round will miss out on the Av+ if that's the score you use for the rest of the movement, and that could make a substantial difference).
I'm not sure what the mathematically fairest approach would be. (My gut feeling is "Av+ is too much but assigning a score equal to the average on other boards is too little", meaning that neither approach is fair, but I am not particularly confident that that feeling is correct.)

"‘Not played’ should only be used when a board is not played as part of the general movement. Suppose the TD sets the computer up to play nine three board rounds, but because the evening is slow decides to stop after eight rounds. The TD should now enter ‘not played’ for all the scores for round nine that the computer is expecting. "
If a board was due to be played but not then played, we assign an artificial score, so the way that I look at the cancelling of the last round is that while the bards had been due to be played, they are no longer due to be played and that fact prevails.

If the TD cancels the last round then the final percentages are fixed. A pair that has 54% at the start of the last round has a 54% at the end of it, and a pair that has 70% has 70% at the end of it and the number of boards played is the actual number scored.
But add in AV+ for three boards and that player on 54% will get a final grade of, say 55% or 56% - which will of course affect his NGS grade (55% on 24 boards rather than 54% on 21 - and the effect will be greater for players with a lower score) whilst the pair on 70% receive fewer benefits. (70% on 24 rather than 70% on 21)
So, I go with the "Not played" (10) option: yes EBUScore will scream at you for not receiving all the scores played, but that should not be affecting the result or NGS. There is a vague possibility it might affect matchpoints if the not played caused the total played to drop below 70% of the total boards in play but this is very unlikely.
if the TD realises in time that they will cancel the last round can't they update the Bridgemate Control Software (via EBUScore) from the penultimate round?
