1NT announcement

Am I right in saying that a hand opened 1NT is where the agreement is that it may contain a singleton is (a) just announced by the point range when the singleton is a ten or higher and (b) announced by point range and "may contain a low singleton"?

In both cases does a system card have to declare that 1NT may contain a singleton?

If no system card is provided, does that alter what is abbounced?

  • 1NT with possible honour singleton: announce range
1NT with possible any/low singleton: announce range + "may have a (low) singleton"

The EBU20B system card has not been changed for the distinction between honour/low singleton. In the box for singleton, players should (now) write: No, Yes (honour), Yes (any).

The EBU regulations are based on pairs having system cards and do not require different announcements if a pair do not have system cards.
But a club that does not require system cards could encourage/require different announcements.
