Problem when starting EBUScore

Hi, Since updating the club dell laptop to Windows 11 I have an issue with EBUScore when it starts up.

EBU score starts but the Window is blank - there are no buttons showing only the black lines of the outer frame and the inside of this box is white.

However If i click then anywhere on the screen outside the EBUScore frame then the normal startup list appears.

This only happens when the laptop is first started. I've update windows, all drivers, and ebuscore itself to latest versions with no change. Anyone else seen this and found a solution?.

  • We also had/have display problems with Blank windows in our scoring program. The only way we’ve found to overcome these occasional glitches, is to move the mouse over the window around the areas requiring input. I think it’s to do with the basic “Mouse Over” command in what was Visual Basic.
I’d be interested also to hear from anyone who may be able to suggest a fix.
  • Can you install ebuclubpairs to see if it has the same problem? One possibility is multiple copies running but ebuclubpairs obviates that using a mutex.

  • Thanks Jeffrey - I'll do that and let you know (be a few days as i need to get the laptop from the club).

  • So.... I still see the issue when using ebuclubpairs.

To be precise - I have an icon on the desktop to open ebuscore (or Club pairs). I have EBUscore (or Club pairs) sized and positioned so that it is not covering the icons. I double click the icon - but do not move the cursor off the icon. EBUscore/Clubpairs opens but the window internally is totally black (no buttons etc), just the outside frame is showing. If I then move the cursor off the icon, as it exits the boundary of the icon, the window in ebuscore appears (presumably the event which occurs "on icon exit" has a screen re-draw and hence the window is refreshed & the buttons etc appear).

  • That's odd. Is this just a Windows 11 associated problem?

  • You say its only "when the laptop is first started". Have you waited a few minutes before starting the program?
