Law 67B2 - DEFECTIVE TRICK

We get to 1 trick to go. Everyone has 1 card left except Dummy who has none.

67B2: , the Director inspects the played cards and requires the offender to restore to his hand all extra cards20, leaving among the
played cards the one faced in playing to the defective trick (if the Director is unable to determine which card was faced, the offender leaves the highest ranking of the cards that he could legally have played to the trick).

Despite reviewing the quitted tricks it is not possible to determine to which trick an extra card was played.

What do I do? A revoke may have taken place but I cannot tell.

  • LAW 85 - RULINGS ON DISPUTED FACTS
When the Director is called upon to rule on a point of law or
regulation in which the facts are not agreed upon, he
    proceeds as follows:
    A. Director’s Assessment
    1. In determining the facts the Director shall base his
view on the balance of probabilities, which is to say
in accordance with the weight of the evidence he is
    able to collect.

So, you don't have to be absolutely certain, just base your ruling on what most likely happened.

    Thanks, Gordon

What if I have no evidence pointing either way - wait for the opponents to complain?

Certainly sounds the most pragmatic to me.

  • Rule in favour of the non-offending side.
