Bridgemates Using PiDs rather than EBU numbers to identify names?

Using EBU Score and Bridgemates. Downloaded EBU Player Database last week. This week entered player EBU numbers on Bridgemates, as usual. One player name was incorrect. Checking the EBU Database... Bridgemates used the PiD of a player rather than the EBU number to verify the name. Happy to provide further details if needed. Any thoughts? MS, Little Clacton, Essex.

  • In Player Database > Player Management, tick the box 'Disable PID for Name Entry' (top left)
When this is ticked, in Bridgemate Scoring (middle right) the text is 'Only EBU Numbers handled'.

When this Player Manement 'Disable' is not ticked, the text in Bridgemate Scoring is 'PID / EBU Numbers handled'.

  • An alternative is to set the Name Source in Bridgemate Scoring > Set BCS Options > Bridgemate II > Name Source to EBU Names Table.
The difference would be that Bridgemates would now only check as EBU numbers, but the Names Screen would first check as PID then as EBU numbers (assuming the Disable Pid is unticked).

All this gives clubs a lot of flexibility as to whether they want to use PID, EBU Numbers or both. When both are used, the number is checked first as a Pid, then as an EBU number.
