Overruff
Hello ,
I will be grateful if you help on the following case.
South is playing in 4 spades. East is on lead (on the 11th trick ) . The declarer has won 7 tricks by now. South claims for the last 3 trick making the contract before East leads. West objects but instead of summoning the TD West cries " Play a diamond "
Questions :
1) If W had called the TD at the right time ( instead of asking his partner to play a card) the TD would have given one trick to E-W.
( Playing a diamond by East is a logical alternative to a heart - West is ruffing over - Contract 1 down )
Please confirm.
2) East plays a diamond . South calls the TD Ruling please )
3 ) East plays a diamond and South ruffs then West over ruffs. South calls the TD (Ruling please )
Thanks in advance for your helps.
Regards.

In all instances EW get a trick, unless it is judged that there is NO doubt that East would always lead a heart, which I cannot imagine being the case given how many hearts are left and how few diamonds.
What happened is that the claim was not accepted and West produced a valid objection to it, one to which declarer has no counter.
The TD will apply Law 70A and award a trick to EW.
