Flickering Video
An issue on the RealBridge platform tonight.
The video of one of the players was mildly flickering (like a bit of interference). One of the other players found this annoying and wanted him to turn off his video. Another objected and started going on about conditions of play.
How would you rule?
I'm interested in how you would balance the rights of the players rather than finding a practical solution (which was the annoyed person sticking a bit of paper of that particular video feed).

While you are required to keep your video on during play I have always felt that there may be reasonable reasons why you do not. They may be temporary or permanent. A temporary reason might be if the player has to eat but of course you should not eat while visible. A permanent reason might be a problem with the video.
While the regulations require the video to be left on I think TDs must have latitude to deal with such problems in a sensible way.
I wasn't aware of this - where does it come from?
It is an EBU regulation.
Are you saying it's a condition of contest, or that it exists in the sky blue / blue / white book somewhere?
I cannot find this regulation in the Blue Book.
It's a condition of contest for EBU events. Of course, even if it were in the Blue Book, clubs would not have to follow it as they can make their own regulations for their games.
The requirement is in RealBridge-instructions and RealBridge-with-screens
Both are conditions of contest (see the URLs) and are referenced from the programmes for EBU/RealBridge events.
